It intends to interpret senses, representations and social dispositions constructed by individuals from their daily experiences of violence. The research resorted to narratives about themselves, about the other and about the place as instruments of analysis for the reconstruction of sociological frames. The analysis allowed us to understand the formation of different regimes of violence in which respect emerges as a recurrent statement.Esta dissertação é resultado de um processo de interlocução com diversos moradores e trabalhadores de um lugar considerado “seguro” em Petrópolis, bairro de Manaus. Nela pretende-se interpretar sentidos, representações e disposições sociais construídas por indivíduos a partir de suas experiências cotidianas de violência. A pesquisa recorreu a narrativas sobre si, sobre o outro e sobre o lugar como instrumentos de análise para a reconstrução de quadros sociológicos. A análise permitiu compreender a formação de diferentes regimes de violência nos quais o respeito emerge como enunciado recorrente
